The Kalshi Entity

Synopsis

The Kalshi Entity, known informally to Max as “Kal,” emerges as a powerful and enigmatic force within the multiverse, wielding considerable influence over Max and shaping the course of events. Although information about its true nature remains fragmented and often filtered through Max’s perspective, certain key characteristics and transformative experiences shed light on this intriguing entity.

Max’s introduction to The Kalshi Entity takes place in Episode 0224: Ready to purchase some weapons, when he is gifted a mysterious ring known as “The Kalshi Ring.” Later, he begins to receive mysterious puzzle pieces and assembles “The Kalshi Puzzle,” which directs his dimensional travel and moves him closer to eventually becoming fully possessed by Kal.

The Kalshi Entity initially presents itself as a manipulative force, subtly influencing Max’s thoughts and actions for its own benefit. Its presence seems to corrupt Max, prompting him towards a path of morally questionable choices and “evil stuff.” While possessing Max, the Kalshi Entity assists him in acquiring various items, including the “Howie” and “Rodney” gnome sculptures, and exerts influence over the Bageltron 2000, pushing Max towards goals that align with Kal’s unknown agenda. This manipulative influence raises concerns among those who witness Max’s transformation, prompting attempts to sever the connection between him and the entity.

Character Traits

  • Manipulative: While possessing Max, the Kalshi entity influenced him to do things that would benefit the entity, such as obtaining gnome sculptures and influencing the Bageltron 2000.
  • Communicative: The Kalshi entity spoke to Max, and these conversations could be heard by podcast listeners.
  • Inappropriate: The Kalshi entity sometimes made inappropriate comments that were broadcast to listeners of the podcast.
  • Powerful: Max described the Kalshi entity as a malevolent, transplanar being.

Key Relationships

  • Max Adams: The Kalshi Entity’s most significant relationship is with Max Adams. The entity possessed Max, manipulating him to pursue its own goals. The extent of the Kalshi Entity’s control over Max is not fully described, though Max states that he doesn’t remember much of what he did while possessed. The Kalshi Entity used Max to obtain the “Howie” and “Rodney” gnome sculptures. It also had Max use the Bageltron 2000 for purposes that benefited the entity. The entity could communicate with Max, and these conversations were audible to podcast listeners. Their relationship ended when Wilson Plus extracted the entity from Max and converted it to the form of an innocent baby, known as Baby K. However, Max and Baby K continue to travel together to other dimensions using the Bageltron 2000, so there is an ongoing relationship.
  • Wilson+: Wilson Plus extracted the Kalshi Entity from Max. This act transformed the entity into a baby, who Max named Baby K. As a result of his actions, Wilson+ has an important connection to the Kalshi Entity, as Baby K’s well-being influences the entity.
  • Jack Strobe: Jack does not seem to have any direct interaction with the Kalshi Entity, but their relationship is significant because of Jack’s relationship with Max. Max often involves Jack in his plans and takes Jack along on trips to other dimensions using the Bageltron 2000.
  • Baby K: When Wilson+ removed the entity from Max, it transformed into a baby, which Max named Baby K. Baby K’s continued good health is important for the well-being of the multiverse because it ensures that the Kalshi Entity remains in a good state.
  • Podcast Listeners: The Kalshi Entity was audible to listeners of Max’s podcast when it communicated with Max. The Kalshi Entity also interacted directly with listeners on at least one occasion.

Character Development

The Kalshi Entity undergoes a radical transformation, shifting from a manipulative, corrupting influence to a seemingly benign, if unusual, infant. Initially, the Kalshi Entity, also known as “Kal,” manipulates Max, compelling him to acquire objects, such as the Howie and Rodney gnome sculptures, and to use the Bageltron 2000 in ways that serve Kal’s agenda. Kal’s influence corrupts Max, pushing him towards a path of increasingly “evil stuff.” Kal communicates with Max, and their conversations are audible to podcast listeners. At one point, Kal even speaks directly to the listeners, revealing its inappropriate nature in the process. This malevolent entity is eventually extracted from Max by Wilson+, resulting in Kal’s transformation into Baby K. Baby K, described as “a sweet, innocent baby,” needs to be taken on interdimensional trips (a.k.a. “shaking the baby”) with the Bageltron 2000 to prevent him from turning purple. The fate of the multiverse is tied to Baby K, as his well-being ensures the Kalshi Entity’s continued benevolence.
